Where do academies go?
The academy is not commercial
The academy is aimed at strengthening intercultural and educational ties within European Adult Education.
It is important that
teachers and pupils
from a variety
of European countries
come together
and work together,
which can then be
continued
at later academies
or
in one’s everyday
working life.
What produce the academies?
A comunity of people (learners and teachers,) pull trough Europe and build together a “european color”, a puzzle of “local colors” i.e. of what it is specific (or not specific?) for each separate locations: cultural and social features, places of tourist interest, daily life...
The teachers from the different partner colleges work together to develop and to put in common course content and techniques at the border between “alternative” tourism and learning, learning in the school and in the streets, ...
Basic concept:
A multilingual, international and interdisciplinary series of activities and courses which take place every summer in a different location in Europe, since 2003
the culture of the host country is of central interest and is the course content which appeals to local residents as well as to foreigners.
The local residents introduce their own abilities and “local colours”, i.e integrate experiences from their daily life, may act as “key holders” to “secret places”, and to “secrets of daily life”.
History: how is large, collective history reflected in small, individual histories? How are history and politics mirrored in daily life? Fragments? Creative access?
The teachers from the different partner colleges work together to develop and to put in common course content and techniques at the border between “alternative” tourism and learning, learning in the school and in the streets, ... The academy would want to be a pedagogical workshop, a European further training for the teachers: from the cooperation at the academy should develop instructors’ trans-border cooperation in common course projects and from academy to academy.
Tourist and cultural interests of the external participants must be served likewise, but with events that are of interest for local participants, in the perspectives of “alternative” tourism, where possible.
